Signs I am an UBER GEEK

Signs I am an Uber Geek. I picked up Frogger for the first time in ..oh say....25 years...and it was like no time had passed. I was a Frogger savant then and I still am now. NO ONE CAN BEAT ME!!! Someday...there will be a SweetonGeeks Frogger Tournament and trophy. The trophy will be a glorious bronze turtle with a frog riding on it's back. Perhaps it will be bejeweled.

Nerdier than we need to be.

We always have the urge to make everything so much Nerdier then it really needs to be. As a business specializing in all that is Geek we are naturally all very Geeky ourselves. Jamie, Vanessa and I work hard at keeping things focused and simple but that's difficult when you are fighting the urge to Flash Animate everything in site and set it all to the music of 2001. The nerdy energy just overwhelms us and we have to resist the temptations to GEEK OUT! It's one thing when this happens amongst ourselves....creates laughter and a sense of comraderie in the workplace. However, this must be contained to some extent or SweetonGeeks.com would turn into a cluster of Japanese Animation set to Star Trek sound effects and obscure references to the virtues of CSS image replacement. See...I just Geeked Out.

Thursday

Why is it after months of development am I completely bogged down by a font choice? I mean, what is the big deal? I feel like I have gone insane as I look at this font or that font and say things like, "It looks angry." And heaven forbid I choose some basic font from the Microsoft Office selection because that would diminish all the hard work I've put into the site. So I'm on day 2 of font hunting. I'm going to have a breakdown and use Bookman. I can feel it. And the color red. Does it evoke love or anger...... or is it just a great color for my toes? Sigh.

Monday

SweetonGeeks.com is almost here!

Well, it is almost ready. After a long hard period of intense caffeine driven research we are nearly ready to release our amazing site. Sweet on Geeks is for the geeks of the world to meet, greet, flirt and who knows what else. I mean....we deserve it just as much as the next person. There may be other geek centric sites but they are always somehow lacking. Regular dating sites always made me feel like a fish out of water. I could care less about whether or not some "formula" has diagnosed, dissected and regurgitated my "personality" and doled it out for the masses to judge. OR whether or not that same "formula" has some PERFECT matches for me. Let me tell you all I REALLY care about is whether or not my quirks, hobbies, interests, habits or family are going to mesh with another persons....or get me labeled as a FREAK. I'm different....I'm special....sometimes I say weird things. I'm often quite funny in a nontraditional way. I can recite all Monty Python. I can't get enough of severe weather TV. A new Mythbusters is reason to live. I laugh out loud at "Get Fuzzy" and then try to describe the funniness to other people ...panel by panel. Star Wars, Trek, the Sci-Fi channel......yeah I love them all. I hid these things and tried to find love based on personality and other various mature qualifiers. In the end...I just scared them away with my jokes about being a Jedi. Whatever! Finally...FINALLY I decided to just be honest. To state what I am deep in my soul. A GEEK. I came out in 2002 and met my soul mate and husband. I knew he was the one when he gave me a small Opus the penguin doll from ebay on our third date. Plus, he was the smartest man I had ever met. He had a Doctor of Jurisprudence (yeah baby!) but he chose to go back to programming being a geek and all. I only possessed a BA. I discovered something I didn't know about myself. His big brain was a major turn on. I should have seen this coming. I saw the guy who invented Craigs List and instead of saying "Wow, what a brilliant business man! " I think , "Wow he's so freakin HOT." Is this a disease? Should I seek help? No, the cure is pure immersion. So, it was in this spirit that SweetonGeeks.com was born. If you wish to jump into the deep end of the pool with us and evolve that would be cool. We welcome you, one and all. Geeks, Nerds, Anime fanatics, Gamers, Coders, Hackers, Goths, Trekkies ....whatever your brand...we welcome you.
